A small keepsake with big meaning…

Our namesake has so much rich significance behind it. For us, it’s the idea that all great things start as dust and will one day return to dust; a notion that we dwell on a lot as pottery makers. It serves as a reminder that life is short, so precious, and at the end of the day our earthly treasures, creations, and bodies will return to the dust from which they came. Humble beginnings to humble ends. Yet somewhere in the middle a transformation happens - dust begets clay, clay begets vessel, and vessel begets stone. The molding can be uncomfortable, the fire is always painful, but the final outcome is stronger than ever and often glorious. This process yields something everlasting, perhaps not a physical thing, but a heart thing. A soul thing.
