The Story Behind the Spinnin' Wheels Tee
When I sat down with Meag (@meagartista) to brainstorm this new shirt design she wasn’t at all surprised about the subject matter. Earlier this year I got my first motorcycle and I’ve quickly become obsessed with riding! The journey to this point was…not easy. When I decided I didn’t want to ride on the back of my husband’s Harley anymore, but have and drive my own, it was scary. Am I strong enough? Are my legs long enough to touch the ground? Can I learn how to change gears? Will I pass the class?
Despite the self-doubt, fear, and anxiety, I went for it. I still get butterflies before every ride, but I think that’s what I love most about it. Forcing myself outside of my comfort zone on a regular basis, recognizing the risks, but taking them anyways.
This same thought process took place in 2015 when I started Jars of Dust, risking all of my time and money and education on an idea. It’s still something I dwell on everyday with each new employee, expansion plan, and investment.
So my hope for this shirt is to communicate and inspire a calling! Regardless of whether you ride a motorcycle or not (although I highly recommend), what spins your wheels? What scares the hell out of you that you know in your gut is well worth the risk?
When you wear this shirt, I hope that you feel empowered to take more risks and learn to laugh in the face of fear or failure.
