Making of the High Tide Vase

Steph's process making our newest product - The High Tide Vase!

"Ultimately, we wanted a large statement vase with an opening wide enough for a classic sized bouquet. Something with a sculptural edge that would standout as a table centerpiece, add to a tableware collection, and not be mistaken for your average vase.

For this specific design, I was simply inspired by holding up a dinner plate, and felt it was also reminiscent of the past circle vases we all loved.

Making consistent sculptural pieces of this size poses quite a few challenges. It’s easy to make one of something, but figuring out how to maintain the potential to possibly make hundreds over time by hand is an entirely different artistic challenge.

Fine tuning the perfect clay moisture/firmness levels for the construction of each step, and timing every stage of the process just right are the keys to prevent warping, cracking, and structural issues."
