Roxy Hall Art x Jars of Dust
Our new glaze colors, Stone + Seaglass, launch this week! To pair alongside these colorways, our friend Roxy Hall will be creating pieces to display in our Virginia Beach showroom. Read below to see how this collaboration happened —
A YING & YANG FRIENDSHIP
Roxy and I are opposite people in so many ways. She is the most go-with-the-flow person you will ever meet, while I am type A to the core. Roxy has long hair, I have short hair. She paints, I sculpt. She looses track of her belongings, I know where everything I own is at all times. She’s late, I’m early. The list goes on and on. But as much as we are different, we are also the same - especially on the things that really matter. We love community, fellowship with friends, learning different perspectives, pursuing a joy-filled life, creating, collaborating, simple moments, being present, and forcing ourselves outside of our comfort zones.
When Roxy and I met back in 2018 we both knew this would never be the “twin flame” type of friendship, but it would be something better, perhaps, a friendship that brings balance and fullness. A yin and yang friendship, if you will.
So with 6 years under our belt, we couldn’t be more stoked to meld our crafts and creativity together in a way that incorporates art, community, and collaboration. We hope you can join us for a night of fellowship, food, and fun. And don’t forget to bring the yin to your yang, and your twin flame too!
THE COLLAB OF THE CENTURY
In 2022 Jars of Dust moved the pottery studio/production portion of the business into a new location, right down the street from our OG Virginia Beach oceanfront shop space. We really needed more space!
Our new space included a lot of spare room that we’ve been slowly filling and renovating. Unfortunately some of it has just gone completely unoccupied, until now!
In January of this year, I invited my good friend, Roxy, into this spare (very rough around the edges) space for a short stint to work on some large scale paintings that she didn’t have the space for in her home studio. In doing so, we essentially fell into a super cool “artist in residency” collab without really realizing it. Each day since, the warehouse has been buzzing with creativity, music, craftswomenship, artistry, and just good ol’ classic vibes!
Through this artist in residency time, Roxy will be creating our new floor set display. If you don’t know what that is, here’s a summary: every season we create a fresh art installation in our shop/showroom with different materials or found objects to represent the theme and color story of the season.
For this upcoming spring/summer it will be filled with a collection of original Roxy Hall Art abstract paintings, designed specifically for our space and seasonal color story.
Join us on the evening of Thursday March 28 to be the first to see the collection, and have access to our brand new glazes, Stone + Seaglass.
